About

The name sounds like trouble. It is mostly about lunch.

The beat before

Picture one frame: a maraca hits the floor and cracks open, seeds spraying across the tile in hard flash. Nobody moves. Something is about to happen. That frame is the brand. The something is a spoonful of salsa macha on a fried egg.

Good heat works the same way. The first second is tension, then flavor floods in: smoke from a chipotle, dried fruit from an ancho, the sharp vinegar snap of a table sauce. We built Deadly Maracas for the people who chase that second, from the curious to the ones with three chile crisps open at once.

What you’ll find here

  • Profiles of hot sauces, salsa macha, chile crisp, seasonings and Mexican dried chiles, with ingredients, chiles and origins.
  • Guides that answer real questions: which chile is which, how one jar differs from another, and what to put them on.
  • Sources on every profile, so you can check us.

House rules

Flavor over bravado. We’re not interested in sauces that exist to hurt people. Heat is context; flavor is the point.

Sourced or silent. Ingredient lists, origins and heat ranges come from makers and reputable references. Scoville figures vary by crop and lab, and many products never publish one. If we can’t cite a number, we leave it blank.

No fake taste tests. We don’t invent reviews, rankings, prices or first-person tasting notes.

Danger is the mood, food is the subject. The look is midnight-movie poster. The content is chiles, oil and vinegar.

Who pays for this

We don’t sell anything. When we add retailer links, some will be affiliate links, and we’ll mark them. Read thedisclosure for exactly how that works.
